Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality.
Prepare garnishes, sauces, and salads.
Ensure all ingredients are properly stored and handled.
Cooking:
Assist in cooking food items such as meats, vegetables, and other dishes.
Learn how to operate kitchen equipment like stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers.
Monitor cooking times to ensure dishes are cooked to perfection.
Kitchen Organisation:
Maintain a clean and organised workstation at all times.
Help keep the kitchen stocked with necessary ingredients and equipment.
Assist in inventory management by reporting shortages or expired items.
Hygiene & Safety:
Ensure proper food safety standards are followed, including correct handling, storage, and cooking temperatures.
Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness in line with health and safety regulations.
Follow safety protocols when using kitchen equipment.
Learning & Development:
Take the opportunity to learn new techniques and cooking methods from senior kitchen staff.
Assist with kitchen duties as needed, including cleaning, organizing, and handling ingredients.
Work efficiently and develop speed and accuracy over time.
Skills and Requirements:
A passion for cooking
Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Previous kitchen experience.
Work Conditions:
The position often requires standing for long periods.
Shifts will include weekend and bank holidays.
Physical stamina and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment are necessary.
